This CD contains The Platters' early 1950s "pre-fame" recordings for the Federal label. Often reissued in the vinyl era to cash in on the group's enormous world-wide late '50s fame, there has never been a legitimate CD package that puts these fabulous - and, on original 45/78s, impossibly valuable - recordings into their correct historical perspective - until now. This set presents the master take of each of the Platters' Federal sides in its best-ever sound. As a bonus, it features Linda Hayes' entire King recordings - several of which also feature the Platters, or their lead singer (and Hayes' brother) Tony Williams - two of which were unearthed for the first time.
