24 track compilation of Hooker's major label recordings made from 1948-55 features him in his prime, and ties in nicely with Charles Shaar Murray's recent "Boogie Man" biography, which is due for paperback release in June 2001. Ray Topping's compilation contains 6 never before released performances. Of special interest is a version of "Key To The Highway" without the intrusive vocal overdubbing from Eddie Kirkland. There is also a version of "In The Mood" with Hooker (probably) on overdubbed harmonica.
