Compilation is another entry in Jazz Band's "Malcolm Laycock Presents" series of selected studio recordings from lessor known bands of the 1940s. Hal was the first musician that Glenn Miller hired & remained with him, playing alto until late 1941, and it was Miller that financed Hal's first band. The band had a colorful sound, but more Ellington than Miller thanks to Dave Matthews arrangements. This CD is a mixture of popular songs & originals.
