Many bands purporting to play New Orleans jazz today actually play styles which evolved from it in Chicago & N.Y., but Jerry & his Stompers play it in its classic form. He's assembled a group of musicians so steeped in the original music they are able to tap into the creative consciousness which produced its flowering in the mid-1920s. Here, Jerry, Earl Scheelar, Don Kidder, Jim Cumming, Henk Wagner, Ted Thomas, Gordon Wilson & guest Bob Jackson play a hymn, a waltz in 4/4 time, traditional blues, New Orleans classics & both well & little-known pop tunes.
