An early jazz singer with a sweet voice that belied her plump physique, Mildred Bailey balanced a good deal of popular success with a hot jazz-slanted career that saw her billed as "The Rockin' Chair Lady" as well as "Mrs. Swing' (her husband, Red Norvo, was "Mr. Swing"). 1944 proved to be her banner year, winning multiple awards and polls. This 16 track compilation contains two different "Music Till Midnight" broadcasts from October of that great year. Features the Paul Baron Orchestra, the Solid Sextet, Billy Butterfield & others.
