"...the airplane view of whipped cream clouds, the one you notice in the crowd..." Sonya Hunter raps folkfully in an ode to the senses on her new CD. Bridging the gap between traditional folk and indie rock, senses are indeed warmed and twisted like taffy on her 6th album. Recorded in Brooklyn and San Francisco, co-produced by Erik Pearson of Mushroom and Desmond Shea (engineer for The Court & Spark and Tarnation), this is Sonya's most adventurous CD to date. Picture the Andrew Sisters visiting the Cocteau Twins on the way to a Donovan concert...with backwards guitar loops, chamber strings, and a touch of sax reminiscent of Stan Getz. Add rich vocal harmonies that are achingly Eastern European one moment and sparkly '60s beach-party the next and you've got a shining "Sun in Mind."
