Now based in Italy, Doris Lavin comes from the province of Matanzas, known as the "cradle of the rumba". As a young girl she was immersed in the rhythm, flavor and musical colors which inhabit the largest island in the Antilles. Trumpeter Lazaro Herrera of the Septeto Nacional "Ignacio Pineiro" discovered her talents and helped guide her career in the early 1990s. After touring and performing during the last decade, she presents her debut album featuring Javier "Caramelo" Gutierrez and Alain Perez (both former members of different generations of Issac Delgado's group), as well as violin maestro Dagoberto Gonzalez of Pablo Milanes.
