Of the numerous groups which started out in the 1930s, only two continued on the popular music scene into the 1970s - The King Sisters and, appearing on this CD, The Modernaires. The group was originally a male quartet formed by Hal Dickinson with Ralph Brewster (both men on this CD), Bill Conway and Chuck Goldstein. This 23 track CD features vocalist Paula Kelly, who was married to Hal Dickinson. Recorded in the forties, this includes the songs "Little Brown Jug," "A Bicycle Built For Two," "Camptown Races," "Stompin' At The Savoy," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and others. Features guitarists Carl Kress and Anthony Mattola.
