A part-time truck driver, a hillbilly musician and a night club owner, Ronald "Slim" Wallace officially formed Fernwood Records in 1957. This 32 track CD documents Fernwood's (and its many subsidiaries) ventures into the field of black R&B. Long respected as a haven for Memphis rock 'n roll and rockabilly, Fernwood recorded a clutch of R&B and blues sides, which have mostly never been re-issued until now. Many of these recordings were probably never heard outside Memphis, as many of them were custom recordings. Features Willie Cobbs, Jeb Stuart, The Lyrics, Kenneth Rice, Eddie Carroll, Memphis Sounds, Earl Forest, O'Henry & Barbara, Donnie Williams, Barbara Perry, Prophet G. Lusk and others.
