The author of the international best seller "The Color of Water," (1.5 million books sold) is also an award-winning songwriter and saxophonist who has written songs for Grammy winners Anita Baker, Grover Washington Jr. and Gary Burton, among others. McBride's CD debut, "The Process, Vol. 1" is a hip, funny affair with accessible jazz tunes, quirky vocal songs, and funny theatrical surprises. Original songs like "Lauren," are smooth-grooved and urban radio-ready, others like "French Girls In New York", and "Lucindee" are Steely-Dan inspired. The recording of this CD was filmed by Jonathan Demme and is the basis of an in-the-works documentary about the lives of jazz musicians. This CD contains music from the session.
