Despite the fact that many fellow leaders broke up their big bands or cut down to combo size, Charlie Ventura tried to tour with large orchestra formations through 1950. In Dec. 1950 Ventura opened his own nightclub near Philadelphia. Volume five of the recordings of Charlie Ventura presented in chronological order opens with seven numbers closely associated with Duke Ellington, followed by a lovely mixture of jazz and pop, including tracks with the Honey-dreamers.
