Otis played Central Ave. clubs every night in L.A., as well as at El Monte Legion Stadium and he appeared regularly on local TV and radio, the source of these recordings. Included is a live broadcast from the 5/4 Ballroom in Watts circa 1954, the soundtrack from a 1958 installment of Johnny's influential KTLA TV show, plus airchecks with him spinning hot R&B and wisecracking on the radio. as well as ads, promo spots and a hilarious rap with Slim Gaillard. Features the Johnny Otis Orchestra and vocalists Marie Adams and Arthur Matthews, plus a rare live cut by the Penguins. This marks the CD debut of several R&B rarities including Johnny's own "Tough Enough" and a great unissued Dig side by the Mermaids.
