Originally recorded for release as a budget-price "rack-filler" for sale at department stores and petrol stations, the Scottsville Squirrel Barkers' "Blue Grass Favorites" became a favorite of every young California musician who later forged a reputation as a country or folk rocker, most notably Gram Parsons. It also served to introduce the world to Kenny Wertz of Linda Ronstadt's Stone Poneys and later Country Gazette, and also to a youthful Chris Hillman of Byrds, Burritos and Desert Rose Band fame, whose first record it was. A short, sharp and energetic bluegrass attack, this is a valuable addition to Ace's growing catalog of '50s and '60s country, bluegrass and hillbilly. (Previously deleted:10/1/14.
