When mid-western bandleader King Perry found himself and his quintet abandoned in L.A. at the end of a 1945 tour, the misfortune soon proved itself to be very fortunate indeed; the West Coast was in the midst of an explosion of war-time entertainment opportunities and aside from the wealth of nightclub positions available, Perry found for the first time in his life that he was in demand as a recording artist.
