This 71 minute CD contains music selected from three Birdland Broadcast dates from 1952, including Shearing's broadcasting debut of "Lullaby Of Birdland." These recordings are from the Boris Rose Recording Archive and available for the first time. Includes cocktail party favorites "I'll Remember April" and "The Continental" plus a large amount of exciting boppish jazz. Toots Thielemans, who became the guitarist of the Shearing Quintet in Oct. 1952, makes his early broadcast appearances here and his harmonica solo is featured on two numbers. The CD concludes with two studio recordings of the 1952 George Shearing Quintet that have been previously unavailable on CD as bonus tracks. Features Joe Roland.
