Every Saturday night for a quarter-century, Janette Carter has taken the stage at the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, making
good the promise she made to her father, Carter Family patriarch A.P. Carter, to keep his music alive. Janette sings in the forceful
and soulful Appalachian style pioneered by her mother, Sara Carter. The core of the repertoire on this 78 minute CD is Carter Family songs, but she also includes a few that she wrote herself, as well as several songs that the Carter Family performed, but didn’t record. The instrumentation is spare and to-the-point, and the focus is on Janette’s lovely autoharp playing.
