Edward ("Edwin") J. McEnelly organized his first band in Milford, Massachusetts in 1902. Within a few years, the group was touring neighboring states, and by the mid-1910s, McEnelly led the most popular dance orchestra in New England, renowned for its versatility and impeccable musicianship. In the mid-1920s, with a young Frankie Carle at the piano, McEnelly's Orchestra made a series of records that remain some of the finest examples of 1920s dance music, with crisp playing and exquisite, multi-layered arrangements. This 2020 edition of McEnelly's complete recordings features all-new state-of-the-art transfers and restorations of the 21 selections, an expanded 32-page booklet with a new history of the band and comments on the selections by Grammy-nominated musicologist Bryan S.
