This is a new blues album by Tom Rigney, the fiery and electrifying fiddler and leader of Flambeau. It's an eclectic collection of blues and "bluesy" tunes in which Rigney is joined by some of the best roots musicians on the S.F. Bay Area circuit - slide guitarist Roy Rogers, harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo, acoustic steel and slide guitar wizard Bob Brozman and many others. On this CD, Rigney pays homage to the great blues violinists whose playing has inspired him over years - Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, "Papa" John Creach, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Vassar Clements - but also maps out his own stylistic territory. The album covers a range of styles, from hard-driving electric blues to old time country blues.
