Albert Washington's "Blues And Soul Man" (ACE #727) was drawn from his Fraternity and Jewel recordings and showed him to be a top drawer vocalist/guitarist. In 1973, he travelled down to Memphis to record "Sad And Lonely" for Eastbound Records with the Memphis Horns. The result was prime southern soul, funk and blues. This rare album has now attained cult status and is reissued here on CD for the first time, with one bonus track -- the previously unissued "Steal Away." Respected author Steve Tracy contributes an affectionate note giving the full background to these sessions.
