Bart Davenport is a man of many moods. But whether he's bringing the garage-soul with Chuck and Garett from The Cuts, doing his Bert Jansch/John Martyn solo acoustic thing, or pouring on the syrupy funk with Honeycut (album due on Quannum, Spring 2005) there are two constants: quality songwriting and genuinely soulful vocals. On this, his third solo album, Bart gives us a little bit of everything -- from CSN harmonies to Hall & Oates pop-soul to Nick Drake folk to some straight Princian funk. A little all over the place, to be sure, but all delivered with the style and coherence those in the know have come to expect from Bart.
