Alto-saxophonist Leo Wright got his start in Dizzy Gillespie's band in 1959, but by the time he released "Soul Talk" in 1970 (recorded by legendary producer Tom Dowd) for Atlantic/Vortex Records, he already had several "soul jazz" albums under his own name. Features Blue Note guitarist Kenny Burrell and B-3 organ maverick Gloria Coleman, plus a take on the folk-blues standard "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child". Rounding out this soulful quartet is drummer Frankie Dunlop, best known for playing on many classic Thelonious Monk titles.
