The fourth volume in our highly-acclaimed series on the famous major label downhome blues sessions, this time from 1949-1952. This compilation features Joe Bihari's recordings of the charismatic southern downhome guitarists, including Little Son Jackson, Jesse Thomas, Pine Top Slim, and Smokey Hogg with pianist Alex Moore. The original releases on Modern, RPM, Blues & Rhythm and Colonial are incredibly rare. There are seven previously unissued tracks and many more obscurities, all beautifully remastered. As before, Jim O'Neal (the co-founder of Living Blues) has contributed another detailed note based on much original research. Compiled by John Broven and Dave Sax.
