When one thinks of big band drummers, usually at the head of the list is Buddy Rich, but of equal talent was the great Gene Krupa. Gene’s career was full of peaks and troughs, but this CD of music from 1944-47, a mix popular numbers and rarities, represents his big band at the peak of its form. This is the last compilation put together by the Sound Of Yesteryear's dear departed colleague Dick March literally a few weeks before his demise, and it displays all the attention to detail that was Dick’s trademark. Features vocalists Lillian Lane, The Escorts, Carolyn Grey, Buddy Stewart and The G Notes. Tracks: Theme (Starburst) And Introduction; Blue Moon; Swinging On A Star; Drum Boogie; Indiana; Out You Go; It’s Up To You; Ain’t Nowhere; These Foolish Things; Hodge Podge and others.
