The 2nd volume of this 1950s West Coast blues great's recordings completes the Roy Hawkins' major label sides on CD. This features tracks from his first recording session in 1948 and continues right up to final session in 1961. As well as many previously unissued and unreissued master takes, this set also contains never before heard, alternate takes of some of Hawkins' best-known classics, including his original version of 'The Thrill Is Gone.' A phenomenally important and influential blues figure in his day - albeit one who remains remarkably obscure from a biographical viewpoint - Hawkins is a perennial favorite of connoisseurs of cool California blues.
