Sathima Bea Benjamin's "SongSpirit" celebrates the 40-year career of this legendary South African singer with a compilation of 12 of her greatest hits, as well as two previously unreleased tracks featuring Benjamin performing with her husband, pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. Also performing on the album are Duke Ellington, Kenny Barron, Stephen Scott, Carlos Ward, Buster Williams, Billy Higgins, and many more. The newly remastered album includes liner notes by Francis Davis, and a collection of historical photos.
