On April 31st 1935 at the Empire Theatre Newcastle Nat Gonella and His Georgians made their first appearance and were an instant success. Nat was lucky in the fact that the complement of the band remained the same for so long; Bob Dryden on drums, Harold ‘Babe’ Hood - piano, Charlie winters on bass, Jimmy Messini on guitar, Pat Smuts on tenor sax and of course Nat on trumpet and vocals. This was arguably one of the most exciting outfits ever produced in the UK. There are twenty great numbers on this CD and may I suggest that you sit back and listen to the man, who for so many of us is still 'The Guv'nor.' Period Of Recordings: 1944-1949.
