Jimmy Dorsey led his own band for nearly 20 years until 1953 when he teamed up once again with his younger and more flamboyant brother Tommy. A few days after Tommy died in 1956, Jimmy recorded his last big hit ‘So Rare,’ though he was already ill with the cancer that would claim his life in June 1957. Although both brothers died in their early '50s, they left behind a wealth of good music, some of which can be heard on this CD of 1945 ‘live’ broadcast recordings. During this period, the band featured Ray Linn on trumpet, Buddy Morrow and Si Zentner on trombones, Buddy Shutz on drums and guitarist Herb Ellis. Vocalists are Bob Carroll, Dee Parker, Jean Cromwell and Dick Culver.
