Almost twenty years after Bob Crosby and his Blackhawk band Ray Anthony
assembled a cast of Dixieland and Jazz greats to record a collection of New Orleans tunes, which combined the historic style of the city's music with a big modern sound to create Big Band Dixieland Swing. Arrangers Heinie Beau and Matty Matlock wrote new arrangements of standards to give the sessions a freshness and swing that characterized Anthony's style of the mid 1950's. Great players from the old Bob Crosby band, Matty Matlock, Eddie Miller, Zeke Zarchy, joined Charlie Teagarden, Manny Klein, Nick Fatool, Paul Smith, and Conrad Gozzo in the impressive lineup. They produced outstanding recordings still much appreciated fifty years later. Ray Anthony plays the trumpet solos and leads the band on these tracks recorded in the 1950's.
