Jerry Gray (1916-1976) formed his own jazz band at the age of 18. In November 1939 Gray joined Glenn Miller and stayed with him until the band broke up in September 1942. After Miller’s disappearance in late 1944 Gray took over the role as assistant conductor of the full American Band of the AER. After the war Gray established his own Miller-style orchestra which continued through the late 40s and early 50s. The twenty eight rare studio recordings featured on this CD have been drawn from the period December 1949 up to April 1953. A gem for all lovers of "Big Band" music.
