An important release for rockabilly and rock'n'roll fans, "The Rockin' South" is the first legitimate CD to anthologize a group of labels from Atlanta, Georgia, run by Bill Lowery, a music publisher who put the city on the map. These labels included NRC, Scottie, Wonder, Fox and Judd. Joe South, Tommy Roe and Wayne Cochran were among the artists who got their first break through Bill Lowery and their early sides (including Roe's original pre-hit Judd version of "Sheila") are included on this set along with some great rockin' sides by the more obscure Rod Willis, the Four Minds, Sweetie Jones, Paul Peek and others. Compiled and annotated by Rob Finnis, "The Rockin' South" comes with a 6000 word note and many rare illustrations.
