Many would argue that Glenn Miller led the greatest dance band of all time and they are probably right. The recordings on this CD span a period from April to September 1940. By that time the Orchestra had become really successful. They had a recording contract, and a sponsored radio show where they broadcast regularly from The Meadowbrook Ballroom, The Glen Island Casino and The Cafe Rouge of The Hotel Pennsylvania, all top dance venues of the period. All of the items on this CD are taken from CBS Chesterfield shows broadcast live from wherever the band were playing an engagement. Most of the titles have announcements by either Glenn Miller or Larry Bruff the station announcer. Vocalists are as usual: Tex Beneke, Marion Hutton and Ray Eberle.
