First time on CD for Guy Clark's fifth album, originally released in 1983 on Warner Bros.. Produced by Rodney Crowell, fresh from success with hits from Rosanne Cash, Better Days features Clark's first hit single "Homegrown Tomatoes.” But beyond the hit, Clark establishes himself as a polished songwriter and storyteller as evidenced by the haunting story of his father "Randall Knife." Although recorded in Nashville, this album includes many of the LA new country session players that are featured on Clark's previous album. Joining Vince Gill, Emory Gordy, and Hank DeVito are Bob Wills fiddler Johnny Gimble and Nashville guitar ace Reggie Young.
