Kathryn Tickell has been at the forefront of the movement for over twenty years now, since she released her debut album as a teenager and set off on a journey that would take her all over the world to play with some incredible artists. Now comes album number eleven, The Sky Didn't Fall. Kathryn has had a long history of unique collaborations, from the incredible musicians who have featured in the Kathryn Tickell Band to the Ensemble Mystical and Northumbrian shepherd Willie Taylor. The Sky Didn't Fall sees her teamed up with Scottish harpist and singer Corrina Hewat to explore the shared tradition of the North of England and its celtic neighbour.
Featuring a combination of traditional tunes and original compositions, the album is an excercise in the purity of instrument and voice, a world away from the production line approach to music that extends through virtually every genre these days.
