Originally recorded in Nashville and released in 1972, the title track explores the vanishing family farm in the Midwest and the expanding influence of big corporations buying up small farms throughout the country. Quite a few years before anyone ever heard of Farm Aid. Some of the other tunes touch on the topic of changing mill towns and even a song about blind street performers!
