During the mid 1960s The Watersons were the biggest thing on the British Folk Scene. This original and highly influential vocal group consisted of Mike, Norma & Lal Waterson and cousin John Harrison. By 1975, it had been several years since they recorded and this album marked their come back with Martin Carthy replacing John Harrison. Almost entirely acappella, this recording sounds like the back room of an old pub in its charming immediacy, listeners really get a sense of the fun it is to sing these old songs with affection and respect. Presented in a digipack, it is released in the original running order for the first time on CD and is remastered from the original studio tapes.
