Pocahontas is musical dialogue in two parts, set to a text by Thayer Burch. Award-winning composer George Quincy's Choctaw heritage informs his work. He and Burch concentrate on an episode at the end of Pocohantas' short life, in the Court of James I. The work was written for soprano Roberta Gumble (Pocohantas) and countertenor Marshall Coid, (King James). Harpsichordist Elaine Comparone's Queen's Chamber Band accompanies the singers. Choctaw Diaries, is a haunting suite for native flute with chamber orchestra accompaniment featuring soloist Timothy Archambault with the Bronx Arts Ensemble.
