Besides his classic album of noted dance songs that is highly prized among 1970s soul aficionados, Cliff Nobles had six highly regarded singles on Phil-LA of Soul Records. He had the ironic distinction of his backing track of the second single, "The Horse," becoming an international hit when it first came out in 1968. But the last laugh was his when the original "A" side, "Love Is All Right," had a major revival starting with Northern Soul fans in England who spread Nobles's music around the world again. Other chart records include "Horse Fever" and "Switch It On" and memorable songs that fans have been waiting forty years for, like "Judge, Baby, I'm Back," "The Camel" and "If You Don't."
This collection captures the heyday of soul dance music and the Philadelphia musicians who made it.
