5-String Productions is delighted to release Craig Johnson's Away Down The Road. Craig has crafted a beautifully intimate recording brimming with emotion and character. Craig has a beautiful high voice that he uses masterfully. Since 1972, Craig has played in a variety of string bands, including two bands with releases on 5-String; The Double Decker Stringband and Martin & Johnson. He has learned from records and from the old masters themselves, including Clyde Davenport, Luther Davis, and Kahle Brewer. "Away Down the Road" includes both traditional blues, gospel and old-time music as well as five originals by Craig. •“This recording is a collection of some of my favorite traditional Southern songs, interspersed with some fiddle and banjo tunes, as well as a handful of songs I wrote during a period of uncharacteristically original thought.
