World renowned bassist and producer Tony Saunders who has backed a list of superstars including Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Ringo, Patti Labelle and David Crosby steps into the spotlight with his highly anticipated new release "Romancing The Bass". Saunders, son of legendary San Francisco keyboardist Merl Saunders (well known for his work with Jerry Garcia) fronts an ensemble of some of the best musicians and singers the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer. Santana vocalist and Grammy winner Tony Lindsay is featured on the urban contemporary single "Tender Loving" along with newcomer Thiyane Pointer (nephew of the fabulous Pointer Sisters) who adds an exciting rap to the piece. Paul Hardcastle discovery Margo LeDuc is the featured vocalist on the smooth standard "Sailing". LeDuc especially shines on "Just the Mood I'm In" and "No One Can Love Me Like you Do', two Saunders compositions. The late Merl Saunders plays a beautiful piano solo on "Song For My Dad" also written by Tony. The CD is much in the tradition of Quincy Jones whereby a mixture of talented vocalists and musicians come together for a very special array of well crafted arrangements with savvy production of both smooth instrumentals and vocals. "Romancing the Bass" is a Romantic and Sensuous adventure which has Nu-Jazz and R& B fans raving.
