(2-CD set) Collection of recordings from the vaults of Excelsior Records and Spin Records. Otis Rene's Excelsior label featured Nat Cole's first hit records, Gerald Wilson's and Johnny Otis's Orchestras, Jimmy Rushing, Luvenia Nash Singers, Gladys Bentley and the first Drifters group. Later, he created Spin Records which featured The Hollywood Flames with Johnny Otis, Preston Love and singer Beverly Wright. Finally, during the 1960's, Otis Rene revived the Excelsior imprint with a reissue of Nat Cole's sides combined with selections by soul singer Phil Flowers. These CDs are devoted to Otis Rene's labels and other works of authorship.
