The Jazz Age. The "Roaring Twenties." Bootleg liquor and hot music. Perhaps no American city is associated with the era like Chicago. Musically speaking, Chicago led the way, producing more than its share of exceptional jazz and "hot" dance bands. Among the best was the band led by pianist Frank Westphal (husband of Sophie Tucker). Westphal and his orchestra played regularly at the luxurious Rainbo Gardens, drawing attention for their crisp, clever arrangements and superb musicianship. This disc compiles some of the band's hottest numbers, expertly transferred directly from rare original sources for remarkably clear, natural sound. These 90-year-old records have never sounded better! Includes a 28-page booklet with rare photographs and revelatory notes by Mark Berresford. 76 minutes, 25 tracks including "Wolverine Blues," "Railroad Man," "Bugle Call Rag," "She's a Mean Job," and more.
