Soft Machine Legacy's sixth album (the third studio album) "Burden Of Proof" was recorded in late August in Italy. The line=up consists of three former members of the legendary British jazz-rock pioneers Soft Machine, and legends of the European jazz and fusion scene: John Etheridge on guitar (in Soft Machine between 1975 and 1978), John Marshall on drums (in Soft Machine between 1972 and 1984) and Roy Babbington on bass (in Soft Machine between 1973 and 1976). And the fourth member is one of the most prominent jazz and rock saxophonists/flutist in Europe, Theo Travis (known for collaborations with Robert Fripp, David Sylvian, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, Tangent).
After several personal changes due to deaths of jazz legends, saxophonist Elton Dean (died in 2006) and bassist Hugh Hopper (who died in 2009), the current lineup of Soft Machine Legacy is continuing the jazz-rock "legacy" of the seminal British icon.
