Jerry Gray a native of Boston Mass., had astonishingly been involved in
music for fifty four years - he was a violinist at the incredible age
of seven. When he was twelve he was a concert master of the Boston
Junior Symphony Orchestra and though he was to move over to big bands
later he never lost his interest in classical music. Some of his
compositions for The Glenn Miller Orchestra were based on the classics,
- Anvil Chorus readily springs to mind.
Jerry Gray is perhaps best known for his compositions and arrangements both for Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller, but he also led a terrific band of his own which can be verified by listening to the tracks on this CD.
