Johnny Rawls was O.V. Wright’s band leader for five years while Johnny
was still in his 20s. He kept the band together after the great singer’s
death, opening for and backing Little Johnny Taylor and others before
starting his own solo career. Otis Clay, who recorded at the same studio in Memphis and was on the same label as O. V. Wright, appears as a guest artist. Otis was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the 2013 Blues Music Awards. His last four albums have all made top ten for radio play on blues charts with Red Cadillac reaching #1. Recorded at Sonic Ranch, with the Rays as the studio band and the Iveys singing background vocals.
Mixed by multiple Grammy winner Jim Gaines and mastered by 2012 Grammy winner Brad Blackwood.
