This CD features what was at the time the world’s most popular dance band/orchestra. Led by Glenn Miller and performed by his several service orchestras, notably Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force Band, featuring Johnny Desmond, Ray McKinley; The Crew Chiefs, compered by Glenn Miller. Glenn Miller’s American Band Of The A.E.F. Stationed in England and one track by Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces Overseas Orchestra conducted by Jerry Gray in 1945 (Glenn Miller had died in December 1944, but the Band carried on). There are also four bonus tracks featuring the Norman Leyden Orchestra in 1959, using A.A.F. band arrangements. Norman had been one of Glenn’s top arrangers and the vocals on these four tracks are all by one of Glenn’s best vocalists, Johnny Desmond.
