Recorded in June, 1960, "True Blue" showcases Brooks along with the young firebrand trumpeter Freddie Hubbard (in one of his earliest sessions), pianist Duke Jordan, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Art Taylor in a set of highly inventive originals.
