There were twelve entries into Americas popular music charts by Glenn Miller And His Orchestra in 1943 - 1944. This is amazing because Mr. Miller had disbanded his civilian band in late September 1942 in order to enlist in The Army Air Forces as Captain Miller. This CD features both the civilian and military bands, and as many of the tracks are male vocals it is interesting to note the progression of superb singers from Skip Nelson (who replaced Ray Eberle in the civilian band) to Johnny Desmond who was perhaps Glenn’s most popular male vocalist. There is also the joy of comparing Glenns singing groups The Modernaires and later the Crew Chiefs. A very collectable item.
