Martin Carthy’s very first solo album was released in 1965 on the Fontana label. It immediately set the standard for serious guitar players the world over and, in the 50 years between then and now, has become a touchstone record for singers and performers across all genres. One of the album’s highlights is ‘Scarborough Fair’, Martin’s arrangement famously adapted by Paul Simon for the Simon & Garfunkel hit record, but the original here remains undimmed as the definitive version.
