The second Deep Soul offering is Little Ann's 'Deep Shadows', an unissued Dave Hamilton-produced master from Detroit and recorded around 1967. It has grown steadily in the rare soul public's esteem ever since its CD debut in 1998. It has been covered by new bands and features in a very atmospheric Jordan trainers internet ad in the USA. We have only just discovered that the magnificent 1966-recorded ballad 'Stay Away' was by Los Angeles vocal group the Turn Arounds. It was recorded in Atlanta but has the feel of a classic mid 60s Chess-recorded ballad; no doubt exactly what the group was trying to achieve at the time.
