The majority of these twenty-three titles are still today instantly recognizable, featuring the greatest songwriters of the Golden Age and bringing back memories of the Hollywood Musicals. The four Al Dubin and Harry Warren songs in the “Forty-Second Street” Medley recall that unforgettable Busby Berkeley musical starring Dick Powell, Ruby Keeler, Bebe Daniels and Warner Baxter. Dubin and Warren also wrote the Gold Diggers Song and Honeymoon Hotel, the latter from the Busby Berkeley lm “Footlight Parade”.
Three lesser known songs by famous composers are Cole Porter’s’ After You from the Broadway Musical “Gay Divorce”, Rodgers and Hart’s You Are Too Beautiful and Irving Berlin’s I’m Playing With Fire. Sam Coslow’s Thanks and The Day You Came Along are from the Bing Crosby “Too Much Harmony”.
